November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month in Ontario.

Communities across Ontario will be joining with Chatham Kent Women’s Centre to raise the flag to end-gender based violence!

For the 9th year, the Wrapped in Courage campaign is mobilizing Violence Against Women (VAW) shelters across Ontario to remind everyone that now more than ever, violence continues to be the greatest gender inequality rights issue for women and girls.

Throughout the month of November we ask Ontarian’s to wear a Purple Scarf to show support for survivors who’ve had to endure gender-based violence in their homes, communities and workplaces. The purple scarf is a symbol of the courage it takes to seek support and safety from violence.

"Shine The Light" Campaign

November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month

The campaign originated out of the London Women’s Centre with communities participating across the province. The Shine The Light campaign promotes the use of the colour purple – long associated with domestic violence awareness.
The Chatham Kent Women’s Centre encourages organizations, business, churches, schools and individuals across Chatham-Kent to incorporate purple into their lives during the month of November by illuminating their offices and homes with purple lights.
Please note that purple bulbs and lights are available at the CK Women’s Centre for $10.00 each.
The annual Shine The Light campaign is a way for everyone to participate and spread awareness about domestic violence and how it negatively impacts thousands of individuals and families across our community.

"I Believe" Campaign

Throughout the years the holiday season has been a special time providing our women and children in need an opportunity to feel the generosity and caring of the community. The “I Believe” Campaign was developed to recognize hope and belief that things can get better.
