Child Violence Prevention Program
The Child Violence Prevention Program at the Chatham Kent Women’s Centre exists to support parents and children who are faced with domestic violence. Children are provided with a safe place to share their feelings and experiences about the violence they have witnessed as well as the changes that have occurred in their family.
The Child Witness Program offers parents an opportunity to learn about the effects of domestic violence on their children as well how they can help their children to heal from the violence they have witnessed.
Both individual and group counselling are available to parents and children. Group sessions provide clients an opportunity to see they are not alone and to meet others who have had the similar experiences. Together parents and children can problem solve supporting each other on their journey to healing.
Services are available at the Chatham Kent Women’s Centre, community outreach offices or in the child’s school.
